In May of next year I'll finish my Bachelor's in Computer Engineering. There are so many different and interesting paths to choose from here on. I've always been fascinated by robots and science fiction and I want to work on technology that will help people. Autonomous systems that assist difficult human operations such as exploring disaster areas are my main field of interest. The challenge here is not only to program those but also to give them a robust design with which they can actively operate and navigate in unknown environments that are in no way optimal for robotic operations.
This is why I joined the Artificial Intelligence Group to do my research. As a Computer Engineer, I am interested not only in the control of robots, but also in integrating sensors, cognition and planning processes into a fine tuned system. Within my capstone, I'll work on an embodiment of PSI. This task is mainly applied within a simulated environment, but I also look forward to the possiblity of applying the PSI Theory to real robots.
After my studies, I want to go on to grad school to continue with innovative applied research and pursue a Ph.D that will allow me to take a relevant role in the future development of exploring autonomous systems.
